A return visit to Holden Clough as my last review was in July 2018. Delighted to report that there are no changes - the Gardeners Breakfast (£8.50) is as magnificent as ever and comes with two slices of toast and tea or coffee with unlimited refills. Unbeatable.

3 Peaks Cycle Shop & Cafe, Settle
A full English breakfast whilst sat inside a bike shop - my idea of heaven! The only drawback was that the hardware was mainly mountain bike related, the road bikes being kept on an upper floor. Still, the Giro d'Italia was on the nearby big screen and there was plenty of reading material in the form of component catalogues to peruse as we waited for the Yorkshire breakfast (£7.50 including tea) to arrive.
So, what it lacked in finesse it made up for in portion size - it took a determined assault to finish this one. Whilst munching our way through the beast, we speculated on which of the mechanics had cooked it and how the job interview process went - "can you dissemble a bottom bracket in 5 minutes whilst poaching two eggs?" This probably explains the somewhat freestyle arrangement of the plate. Tasted pretty good though!

Mo's Table, Holloway Road, Islington
I know what you are thinking, "Islington? Isn't that in London? I thought this was a blog about Yorkshire breakfasts..."
Well it is true, my idea was to sample all those eating establishments that were accessible by bike from Grassington. However, on a recent visit to our capital city we stayed with my daughter and fellow Grassington Guzzler Sarah, who recommended this place just a few minutes walk away. Reluctantly declining the use of her Brompton to cycle there, we enjoyed a full English for a remarkable £7.50. It was so good I knew that it had to be included in my 100 greatest list - slightly smokey beans, fresh bread, beautifully poached eggs, crispy bacon, superb sausage and spicy mushroom....yum!

Town End Farm Shop - Airton
A second entry for Town End farm shop - instead of the regular full English I went for "The Full Monty" which is basically breakfast in a bun for £6.50.
It is all there - the bacon, egg, sausage, tomato, mushroom and black pudding - with the exception of the beans fortunately, otherwise it would be super messy! Can you imagine tackling that without a knife and fork!! Not much you can do about presentation on this one, but it tasted pretty good!

Abbey Tea Rooms, Bolton Abbey
Bolton Abbey is blessed with an abundance of Tea Rooms, but being Easter holidays we decided to leave the usual suspects to the day trippers and opted for the Abbey Tea rooms located close to the A59 roundabout and hopefully a little quieter.
Despite this cunning plan the cafe proved very popular (probably because you can park for free whilst you eat). However we managed to secure a table and smacked our lips at the breakfast offerings - should we go for the Yorkshire Farmers Big Breakfast (£8.95) or the Abbey All Day Breakfast (£7.95). Both served with a pot/mug of tea/coffee or orange/apple juice, along with toast.
In the end we plumped for the Abbey All Day Breakfast which was pretty good, especially the fresh mushrooms, all nicely cooked. No beans or black pud though and the bread was ordinary sliced white instead of the rustic thick slices I love, so a point dropped there.

Wharfe View Cafe, Burnsall
We haven't been to this cafe for a while as it's pretty close to home. Since my last trip it has changed owners and the new lady very enthusiastically welcomed us inside despite it being almost completely full. We bagged the only remaining table and perused the menu - should we go for the standard breakfast or upgrade to the big one?
We threw caution to the wind and went for the big option as it included beans and black pudding, something we had missed out on an hour earlier. Anyway, it was now lunchtime, right?
Looks impressive eh, especially the artistry with the pea shoots on the eggs. However, maybe because this was our second fry-up of the day, or maybe because the mushroom and eggs were slightly too well done, we didn't enjoy it quite as much as we should have - though it was certainly a filling and substantial plate of food.

Springfield Cafe, Grassington
A snowy day meant cycling was off so a large contingent of Grassington Guzzlers repaired to Springfield Cafe, which is half way up the Main Street in Grassington. Usually breakfast has finished by the time we return from our rides, so this was a good opportunity to sample the fare.
We were not disappointed. The Big Breakfast is a decent plateful and keeps you going for the rest of the day. Tea or coffee is included, along with toast.
The Standard Breakfast is smaller but still sufficient and it also comes with two slices of toast.
