It has been a while since our last visit, so back to Kirkby Lonsdale Bakery to see if the breakfast remains as good as I remember. I was not disappointed - still one the finest so far! Quality bacon and sausage, black pudding made with Guinness, two fresh eggs - fabulous!

Be A Garden Maker - Wigglesworth
An unusual name, but this cafe is set within a garden centre on the road between Wigglesworth and Bolton by Bowland. Plenty of room both to park bikes and also inside, with a great selection of cakes, coffees and hot food including Sunday lunches.
Breakfast is massive - be warned! Crispy bacon, good quality fresh bread to make the toast, great sausages, egg, mushrooms, tomatoes, beans, hash brown - the only thing missing for the full set would have been black pudding, but I doubt you'd be able to eat it! All this for £8.25 and I bet you won't be jumping straight back on the bike until that lot has digested a little!

The Corner House Cafe - Grassington
One of our favourites, The Corner House Cafe has lovely friendly staff, great cakes and most importantly, a fantastic breakfast. This is served until 11:30 and there are 3 choices, a Full English (shown below) at a very reasonable £7.20, a vegetarian Full English (same price) and The Big Breakfast which is an extra £1. For this you get a Hash Brown and mushrooms in addition to the Full English. Toast is included, along with a decanter of water - very cyclist friendly!
Great quality, fresh produce (a really golden yolked egg!) and nicely cooked.

Goat Gap Cafe - Newby
Situated on the A65 this cafe would normally be off the books as you’d be pretty mad to cycle on such a busy road. Fortunately however, there is a side road from Newby towards Bentham which makes it nice and accessible.
Breakfast starts at 9am and boy what a choice. Big and little Yorkshire breakfasts, vegetarian, eggs on sourdough, the list goes on. Remember to get your order in before 11:30 though as the cafe then moves on to the lunch menu.
The big Yorkshire included 3 sausages, black pud, crispy bacon, mushrooms, beans, egg, tomato and 4 slices of toast. Excellent!

Riverbank - Burnsall
Riverbank is a small eco-cafe situated in Burnsall village car park (£1 for an hour or £5 all day). It is open from Thursday to Sunday all year round. It gains a star straight away for having a cycle rack. Inside there are no menus, just choose from what you see at the serving hatch. When I visited it consisted of assorted cakes and a few savouries - I chose a Thai Vegetable Roll and a "Fat Boy" which was similar to a sausage roll. So, no full English breakfast on offer unfortunately. Still, the rolls were good and washed down with a cup of tea the bill came to £8.50.

TJ's Tearoom - Cracoe
TJ's is an extension of Jackson's Farm Shop in Cracoe - locally famous for quality sausages. Cyclists and muddy boots are welcome and the cafe is rather larger than its outside appearance suggests. There is an impressive selection of breakfasts, including a vegetarian option, as well as a cyclists special. The mugs are bigger than the teapot!
Price is a very reasonable £6.95 inclusive of tea/coffee, or for an extra pound you can go the whole hog and order the large breakfast as shown below.

Katie's Cuppas - Halton Gill
Not really a breakfast, or even a cafe - but this has to be one of our all time favourites. Situated in the hamlet of Halton Gill, Katie's Cuppas consists of a farm outhouse containing tea and coffee making facilities, cakes and a toilet.
Seating is outside, under a covered porch across the road. The cakes are first rate and the choice of (make your own) drinks impressive, with a selection of teas, coffee and cold drinks in the fridge.
Payment is on an honesty basis - check the price written on the wall (drinks) or cakes (slices are individually wrapped and marked) and put your money in the plastic box.
